Flame retardants are classically used in building and construction, in the automobile industry, or in the field of electronics. Polyplast Müller offers flame retardants based on different substances which – after addition to the end product – prevent the spread of flames and flaming droplets and can reduce the formation of smoke.

DURAVOLTA is a new developed flame retardant and heat stabilized Polypropylene, made in Germany. The main reason for developing this material was to offer a halogenfree material according to IEC 61249-2-21 with outstanding heat and electrical insulation properties. It unites very good technical values, high form stability and ecologically aspects with a very good price-performance-ratio. Castrol Anvol PE 46 B (07.09.2020) Flame-retardant hydraulic fluid Description The flame-retardant hydraulic fluid Castrol Anvol PE 46 B is based on defined, hydrolytically stable phosphoric acid esters. Castrol Anvol PE 46 B is a hydraulic fluid to be labeled as HFD 46 in accordance with DIN 51 502 or as HFDR 46 in accordance with ISO 6743-4 . Castrol Anvol PE 46 B complies with VDMA standard sheet 24 317 "Guidelines for flame-retardant hydraulic fluids" (type HFDR). The liquid is PCB-free. Application Castrol Anvol PE 46 B is preferably used as a hydraulic fluid in electro-hydraulic control systems of steam turbines. It was developed specifically for this purpose. Used as a circulation lubricant, Castrol Anvol PE 46 B is suitable for bearing lubrication of steam and gas turbines, provided they are designed for this group of materials, and it is used as a hydraulic fluid in industrial hydraulics that work in fire-hazardous environments.

BIEGLO offers high temperature resistant and flame retardant fibers. The application is similiar to meta-aramid, but PI fibers have its own advantages. The long-term service temperature is 260℃. The decomposition temperature is 560℃. The LOI is 38%, it means it is non-flameble fiber. The Dexnyl Polyimide fibers are applicable in many products, but they are used best in niche-applications with extreme standards for the material: 1- FR Protective clothing: e.g. military fligth clothing, flame resistand underwear, firefighter uniform etc. 2- High temperature filtration and industrial insulation: e.g. dedusting filtration for cement factories, steel or powder plants, air filtration for painting area operated at more than 300°C . 3- Composite material: taking advantage of insulation, flame retardance and high emperature resistance, chopped fiber can be used as reinforced material.

Aramid fibers are suitable for very demanding applications and they are widely used in the firefighting industry (manufacturing of firefighters’ clothing) because of their flame retardant properties. Aramid is not only fireproof, the aramid fibers also have a high tensile strength, which is why they are often used for bulletproof vests (military and police) or for armoring selected emergency vehicles. A special property of aramid nonwovens is its good thermal insulation. The laid heating wire creates a very high heat output, which is insulated by the nonwoven. Aramid has a high heat resistance, which is an enormous advantage since laying the heating wire generates a very high heat output which is further enhanced by the insulation provided by the aramid nonwoven carrier. In addition, the nonwoven is either not combustible or flame retardant and can be used for a temperature ranges of up to 200°C.
