Microwave Resonator, Continuous In Line Moisture measurement Description The microwave resonance measurement uses the electromagnetic energy stored inside a resonator to determine the water content of a product. Via a non conducting window, the resonator field is coupled into the material located in front of the resonator. This so called leakage field is not radiated. Depending on the dielectric properties of the product, the shift of resonance frequency and bandwidth of the resonator is used for measurement. The ratio of bandwidth and frequency shift is density independent. The measurement is highly suitable for bulk material.

This signal is coupled via an antenna into the product (Paper, Tobacco, Sand, etc.). Depending on the dielectric properties of the product the signal propagates in the product. After the signal has passed the product a second antenna receives the signal (Transmission). Amplitude and phase shift of the received signal are an expression for the water content or dry matter of the product. The microwave measurement is very stable and it has a quick response to product changes.

NIR LED– Technology, Continuous InLine density measurement Description The HK8 Series are NIR (Near Infrared) LED InLine measurement devices with state–of–the–art technology. The devices are used on conveyor belt, in pipelines (connection via flowthrough measuring cell or flange) and in tanks / vessel. Through the modular construction (Sensor and evaluation unit are separate), the sensor can be installed at a difficult accessible places and the evaluation unit can be installed at a well accessible place. This ensure the easy handling. The modular construction makes the operation of the HK8– Series very easy.

Boiler feed water The so called „Boiler feed water“ is stored in a feed water tank and continuously feeded to the boiler of a steam generator. A big quantity of feed water is needed for example in steam power plants. The boiler generates steam, which is used for heating, for chemical processes or for driving a steam turbine respectively a steam engine. The feed water is purified in a way, that all harmfull components for the boiler are removed or neutralized. Leakages and evaporation loss are compensated by additional water which is purified in the same way than boiler feed water. Very often, valuable well and potable water resources are used for the generation of process water. Environmental regulations restrict this usage of well and potable water continuously and increase the costs for this resources steadily. Complete deionisation with electro deionisation With electro deionisation, permeate of reverse osmosis or other process waters can be completely demineralised. According to the VGB recommendations, a max. conductivity of 0,08 µS/cm is allowed for fully demineralised water.

Complete desalination with ion exchangers With ion exchangers, permeate of reverse osmosis or other process waters can be completely demineralized. According to the VGB recommendations, a max. conductivity of 0,08 µS/cm is allowed for fully demineralised water.

Reverse osmosis used for surface water treatment For the retention of dissolved salts and low-molecular Components, nanofiltration or reverse osmosis is suitable. With nanofiltration, multivalent ions and low-molecular components like e.g. humic substances can be retained. Nanofiltration can be used for reduction of hardness, separation of phosphates and sulphates, as well as for reduction of COD and DOC. With reverse osmosis – additionally to the nanofiltration – monovalent ions can be retained. Generally, with reverse osmosis very good retention rates for DOC can be reached, which especially matters at power plant applications.

Ultrafiltration of surface water For separation of dissolved substances, ultrafiltration is applied apart from conventional pre-filters (sand and gravel filters). So, all solids and even bacteria, viruses, germs and colloidal components (iron, orthosilicic acid) are retained.
