This is normally possible only while the product is either moving slowly or stopped, and often results in complicated work-arounds to enable continual production (continuously running winders, etc.). Cut-To-Length Lines are core competence at GSW. They belong to the family of Cutting Lines and are designed to process diverse materials out of steel, non-ferrous metals or aluminum and precisely cut a coil into sections of equal length (which is where the name comes from). Starting with narrow slit strip and finishing somewhere beyond 2000mm width – our Cut-To-Length Lines always know how to shine in this process.

The Combination Slitting & Cut-To-Length Lines are probably the most flexible coil processing lines within the field of cutting. By combining the cutting lengthwise and across, the coil material can be processed into a variety of blanks. So, if your production features a limited number of different coils as basic materials, while the variety of widths and lengths of the blanks is high, a Combination Slitting & Cut-To-Length Line will be the right choice. The system bases on the Cut-To-Length technology while offering the additional functionality of slitting. Since the slitting technology is home-made too, we can provide a fully integrated solution. An incisive experience so to speak. As a sizable advantage, storage space and material costs per ton are both significantly reduced, and with Combination Slitting & Cut-To-Length Lines even smallest batches can be delivered immediately.

Also Slitting Lines do of course belong to the family of Cutting Lines. They are suitable especially for such customers who have to control a large portfolio of coil widths within their production. And if you build quality products you need quality even in your primary material. Finding it requires a good Steel Service Center but can be costly and unavailable at time of need. The special feature of the Metzner CCM 4: the circular cutting machine handles both wet and dry cutting. Depending on the type of cut, the CCM 4 is equipped with a water-cooling lubrication system or micro-knife moistening and preparation for suction. The standard model comes with an integrated discharge conveyor (800 mm length); application range both in-line and off-line. For tubes with suitable material properties the CCM 4 Gasket offers the possibility to cut flat gaskets with the circular knife. Suitable for tubes with max. 30 or 50 mm diameter and a tube length of 1 mm to 1000 m.

The Metzner ST-OB is for cutting cables & strands up to 30 mm diameter. Thanks to the gentle adjustment of the pressure between the transport belt also optimal for cutting rubber seals. WIDE SPECTRUM The cut-to-length machines of the ST-OB range have convincing precision, compact construction and processing spectrum for products such as cables, wires, braided cables, shrink-fit tubes, and numerous other materials.

Metzner has developed a fully automatic processing machine with outstanding cutting quality and great length accuracy for steel cable wires of up to 20 mm diameter. The steel cable wires are fed by a motorised feeding device in combination with a contact-free loop control. Then, program-controlled and positionally accurate marking tapes are applied to the steel cable – with a cycle time of less than two seconds. In addition, a wax printer marks all the fastening and processing points that will be required for subsequent processing. This labelling method is carried out in a continuous process. The cut is then made using a special cutting process. Precise length accuracy is achieved by a special laser measuring system. A material stacker with a storage area of up to 12 metres ensures that the steel cable wires are deposited in an orderly manner. All cut steel rope can be stored and sorted according to length to allow it to be removed at a later point.

With automatic continuous punching machines, machine and tool merge into a high-performance system with high output and remarkable flexibility. Whether sealing profiles for the automotive industry, applications for furniture, or household appliances – complex trimming is often required here. Thanks to the Metzner automatic throughfeed punching machines, processing operations such as contour cutting, drilling and milling can be integrated into a throughfeed system. All these machines store all machining parameters and machine settings in a machining recipe. When starting production, an integrated barcode scanner activates all presettings on the basis of the working papers and simultaneously reports the correct tool and material on the machine display. The barcode also contains the required quantities and lengths. Thanks to well thought-out quick-change systems, tools and materials are generally changed within no more than 30 seconds, minimizing downtimes.
