The purchase of Aluminium alloy billet is an option available to our customers from our on-site Cast house. The billets are cast by conventional direct chill semi-continuous casting using float-dip tube technology. The subsequent homogenisation takes place in one of our two homogenising ovens. We are able to offer short lead times for machined billet in smaller quantities than would otherwise be available. With the wide range of alloys and dimensions we can offer, we will surely find a solution for you.

High feed and short machining times are the advantages of the LMT Fette MultiEdge 2Feed mini in a nutshell. High removal rates are achieved especially when machining hardened or high-tensile materials, even with large projection lengths. These results are delivered by the proven high-feed geometry of the 9 mm small indexable inserts, their positive rake angle, the new LCK10M cutting material with high carbide content and the TiAlN-based high-performance coating. The machining of high-tensile steels up to 63 HRC and chilled cast iron up to 67 HRC presents no problem. The machining time for one type of tempered steel was almost half that of a competitor tool.

CBN (cubic boron nitride) is the next hardest material after diamonds. When properly used, tools made from CBN exhibit considerably less wear than other materials. Cutting inserts or even VHM tools can be equipped with CBN. Technical application: Hardened tool steels with hardnesses greater than 55 HRC or high speed steels (HSS) can be machined without problems using CBN. Case hardened steels and chilled cast iron can also be machined with CBN. Non-ferrous metals are totally unsuitable for CBN; diamond tools are needed for these.
