Occasionally also these terms are used for cartridge heates: heating cartridge, insertion heaters, spiral cartridge heaters. As a rule cartridge heaters consist of a cylindrical stainless steel tube and thus provide a high corrosion prevention. There is a heating wire inside which is wound onto a ceramic core. The number of coils varies depending on the power. In order to avoid a short-circuit, the cartridge heater is filled with magnesium oxide and compressed afterwards. Highly compacted they reach a surface watt density of up to 50 W/cm² and withstand highest stress. In the plastics industry cartridge heaters are used in hot runners in order to temper thermoplasts during injection moulding processes. Other areas of applications for process heat are e. g. packaging, diecasting or continuous casting in which zinc or aluminium are processed. Further applications are to be found in mechanical as well as medical and laboratory engineering.

Splittable plastic and metal versions seal preassembled cables The splittable flange variants UNI Flange in plastic and UNI Flange HD (Heavy Duty) in metal have been well-designed by PFLITSCH as product solutions for use in harsh industrial environments to provide reliable cable entries for preassembled cables. For 90° cable entries and safe outlets from switchgear cabinets PFLITSCH UNI elbow solutions enable cables to be taken safely around corners up to 90°. These cable glands have an angled cable gland body made from die-cast zinc or PA plastic. Elbow cable glands achieve the same technical values as the UNI Dicht® standard models. The variants with a rotating coupling can direct the component leg in any direction 360° around the attached leg in order to achieve the best cable entry. PFLITSCH makes these as standard products in sizes M16 to M40 and Pg 9 to Pg 36. To feed cables at an angle into/out of switchgear cabinets or machine housings, PFLITSCH produces various short and long flanged elbows in die-cast zinc and PA plastic. They are screwed tightly on to the housing and can accept – depending on the version – cable glands in sizes M16 to M63 and Pg 9 to Pg 48. An inserted o-ring securely seals the flange to the housing.

CONEC has developed an ODVA compatible IP67 Fiber Optic connection for harsh indoor and outdoor environment. The new system is a bayonet locking enclosure with integrated LC Duplex Connectors and Adapters. The bayonet locking enclosure provides an easy and secured connection also under adverse conditions. The available materials for the housings are plastic, plastic metallized or nickel plated zinc die-cast for extreme harsh conditions. The LC connections are available for single mode or multimode transmission, depending on the requirements of the operated system. The major application for these connectors are connections from base stations to the transmission modules based on antenna poles or for network connections on the last mile into end users homes. This program is supplemented by preassembled patch cables in various lengths.

The RJ45 connector is the most used interface in data communications. CONEC has, based on this connector interface, designed a rugged versatile connector system for Cat. 5e and Cat. 6A, that ensures reliable protection and the convenience of easily mating under the most difficult and harsh environments. The housing with bayonet coupling mechanism is in compliance with IEC 61076-3-106 and provide increased protection for the connector system against contamination and moisture (IP67 rating). Furthermore, the increased demands for mechanical stability, temperature resistance, vibration immunity and protection against EMI and UV radiation will be fulfilled. This program is supplemented by preassembled patch cables with IP67 rating in various lengths and designs. The zinc die-cast version provides an excellent protection against harsh environment.
