Temperature Sensor with ceramic isolation The temperature sensors of the TF Series are ideal for exact temperature measurements in highly sensitive medias. The ceramic insulation guarantees a direct reading of the melt temperature. Any influences by the flange or tool temperature are reduced to a minimum. The ceramic encases the measuring element and isolates it from the surrounding area. The design of the TF conforms to the recommended guide lines of the Plastics and Rubber trade association according to EUROMAP 31.

The TF-MX Series was developed in order to measure melt temperatures quickly and easily for all types of plastics. The temperature sensors are economical and versatile and impress with their robustness and reliability. The rheological characteristics of innumerable plastics were considered during the design procedure of the conical measuring tip, so that highly viscous medias can be ascertained without any greater problems. Major advantages regarding the life-span and reliability of the sensor in comparison to sword sensors are ensured due to the correct installation procedure.

Conventional thermometers measure the temperature by means of length or volume change of a material, and are only suitable as display instrument. Temperature sensors from Lenord+Bauer use resistance thermometers that feature an almost temperaturelinear resistance curve, and output the resulting measurement data as electrical signal. They are suitable for a measurement range from 40 °C to +250 °C. A thin stainless steel tube protects the electronics from dirt, humidity and corrosion, allowing the sensors to meet the requirements of protection class IP 68. This sensor for measuring exhaust gases was developed together with a Formula 1 team. The goal was to achieve the greatest possible reliability during the race. The sensor was designed so that it can withstand a maximum of vibrations and extreme temperatures while being made in a highly compact construction at the same time. The special feature is the connection lead. It is not made from the usual mineral-insulated stainless steel sheathed line, which is too rigid and which tends to vibration fractures. Instead, the line is made of stranded conductors with PTFE insulation and an additional heat shield so it can be easily and flexibly adapted to the environment.
