CTRA produces a wide range of boiler-made equipment for chemical processing, including reactors, columns, decanters, mixers, gas coolers, gas scrubbers, odour scrubbers and absorbers, as well as their internal equipment. All this boilerwork is designed by our departments to meet the dynamic and hydrostatic loads required by the various processes. Thanks to the development and mastery of materials, CTRA is able to design a wide range of boilerwork, up to 6 m in diameter, to withstand the most corrosive fluids, whether they operate in a vacuum or at high pressure, from 50°C to 200°C.

BORSIG has developed its own boiler design. This boiler design is suitable for all gasification processes. The waste heat boiler is designed as a fire-tube boiler. The hot synthesis gas enters the heating surfaces with a temperature of about 1,400 °C and is cooled down in these tubes to approximately 300 °C. The heat from the synthesis gas is used for generating saturated steam.

The patented design for 4-stroke engines high pressure EGR system enables cooling of exhaust gas, some of which are over 700 °C, down to 50 °C.

The chemically stable and high-temperature resistant nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy 2.4605 (alloy 59) is mainly used in the chemical industry, flue gas desulphurisation plants, paper industry. Alloy 59 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy with excellent corrosion resistance and high mechanical strength. The alloy has excellent resistance to both oxidizing and reducing media, and possesses superior resistance to chloride pitting and stress corrosion cracking. The alloy is widely used in the most severe environments. Some applications include: flue gas scrubber components, bleach plant and digester components for the pulp and paper industry, sour gas handling equipment, sulfuric acid coolers, waste incinerators and seawater equipment. Refra heat exchangers for gas coolers are made of special K65 copper tubes for high pressures which go up to 120 bar. Such coils are perfect for CO2 systems as they are capable of maintaining the pressure these systems need. Standard units are designed using corrugated fin shape and can be made with aluminum, galvanized or stainless steel frame with Aqua-Aero anti corrosion protection. These products are usually selected and manufactured exclusively according to the customer’s wishes.

The BCpreFerm is a whole gas analysis for scale-up processes. Made for the analysis of metabolic processes, the model is composed of up to 6 CO2- and O2-senors, a BACCom data multiplexer box, and the BlueVis-software for automatic data recording. Growth is controlled through a parallel analysis of CO2 and O2, a display of OTR, CTR and RQ, and through defined trial conditions. The system uses a modular design which enables connection to shake flasks, as well as to fermenters. It can also be attached to existing bioreactors. The use of additional gas coolers, lines, pumps and valves, and the complicated processing of gases is no longer necessary. The instrument can be used for cultivations in shake flasks and fermenters and further applications.
