Drillstar hole openers are used worldwide by major drilling contractors. Their robustness and durability ensure safe operations while minimizing maintenance and rig costs. They are manufactured with the number of cutters adapted to the work required. All our hole openers are field maintainable, with easy assembly and disassembly. They are all equipped with 3 or 4 cutters, as well as mud nozzles carefully positionned to clean the cutters and the hole simultaneously.

It is recommended that the cam lever is in a vertical position when the collet is positioned in the bore. The function of the clamping system was tested in bores with tolerance H7. All values for retaining force are guide values and are given without safety factor. The suitability for the respective application must be checked by the user. Advantages: Two components can be joined together without tools. The components are perfectly centred in the clamped state. The compact design means that the mandrel collet with cam lever can even be used in blind holes. There are no specific dimensional requirements for the holes. Additionally, the surfaces and design do not need to have any specific properties. Functional principle: The clamping system is inserted in the hole in the open state. At the beginning of the locking process, the mandrel collet expands and clamps itself in the lower component. The integrated disc spring assembly creates a positive down force

Drillstar PDC hole opener is a reliable solution for hole enlarging in both medium and hard formations. The body is machined out of a single block of heat treated AISI 4145H alloy steel. The three PDC arms are held in place by oversized locking pins. The unique design of the body ensures maximum strength and durability. It can withstand loads far beyond those involved during normal drilling operations. Cutting arms are fitted with two rows of PDC. During drilling, load is transferred directly from the arms to the body. No stress is sustained by the pins, substantially reducing the risk of losing parts downhole. Optimum cleaning is ensured by nozzles positioned below each cutting arm. Different sizes of arms can be adapted to the same body: for example the 9 1/2" OD body can be fitted with optional arms to enlarge up to 22" or 26". Special sizes of body and arms are available on request.
