Electric cylinders are self-locking. So they do not need energy when they stand still. This makes the electric cylinders to be an interesting alternative to pneumatic and hydraulic actuators. Powerful DC motors, signal lines, potentiometers and Hall-ICs for position indication, as well as integrated end switches uncomplicatedly serve for meeting the most frequent requirements.

EleCylinder are electric cylinders with motor, encoder and integrated controller. These energy-saving actuators are extremely easy to use and operation via data input requires no complicated programming. Start and end points can be set to any position. Due to the high-speed movements, EleCylinders are ideally suited for short cycle times. Unlike pneumatic cylinders, they can also perform slow uniform speeds over the entire stroke. Even gentle starting or braking are no longer a problem. EleCylinder are repairable easily and have only a few maintenance parts.

Efficient positioning, assembly and handling of workpieces are key components in many manufacturing companies to meet growing cost pressures. Replacing pneumatic cylinders with electric linear drives can save up to 90 % of energy consumption. In addition, there are numerous advantages in motion control. RoboCylinder slide table actuators combine high load capacity with very good guiding accuracy. The compact design offers extra stability and enables use even in confined spaces. They are suitable for precise assembly applications, for positioning or for pushing movements of horizontal payloads up to 30 kg and vertical payloads up to 24 kg. The slide tables are provided with fitting holes for changing workpieces. The linear drives are available either as directly driven compact slides with motor in extension of the longitudinal axis as well as shorter versions in which motor and axis are parallel to each other.

RK Rose+Krieger has expanded its range of electric cylinders with the introduction of an additional electromechanical heavy-duty cylinder: the SLZ 63. Thanks to its square shape, slots in the external profile and fitting dimensions according to DIN ISO 15552, the SLZ 63 can be integrated flexibly into a wide range of customer-specific applications.

The completely equipped electrical cylinder unit includes the motor transmission unit, along with the motor brake, two-channel Hall-IC sensor and two end-limit switches. All connection lines run directly out of the unit to make configuration and initial start-up easier, particularly for PLC operation. The fixation of the electric cylinder connections is compatible with commercial pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders.

Special sealers ME 455/605 VAD with air suction system (max 80%) suitable for volume reduction and better preservation of products. For applications without positioning accuracy or with high radial loads in static, it’s possible to use the guide units for pneumatic cylinders with a guide on plain bearings, since the rod coupling has an axial play (<0,2 mm). It ensure the guiding and antirotation of the payload, the floating coupling protects the rod of the cylinder from any mechanical stress. Micro Cylinder with only 14 mm Cross-section The ultra-compact RCD micro cylinder is a rod type with a length of only 52 to 72 mm and a width of only 12 mm. The motor-driven micro cylinder is designed for applications with low load and power requirements. It can be used for short strokes, press mounting, lifting and lowering and many other applications. The micro linear cylinder with 24 VDC miniature motor for a maximum payload of 0.7 kg is available for stroke lengths of 10, 20 and 30 mm. The small 2.5 W motor has a rated thrust of 4.2 N and a speed of up to 300 mm/s at an acceleration of up to 9.81 m/s.

Small mini rod types from IAI replace pneumatic cylinders with ease due to their identical design and simple control mode. They are used as electromechanical positioning systems for assembly devices as well as for lifting, lowering, pressing or clamping of workpieces by many manufacturing companies. In the RCP3 series, the smallest models are available as rod types with sliding or recirculating ball screws. The latest developments are the numerous space-saving mini rod types of the RCA2 series with 24 V servo motor or the RCS2 series with 230 V servo motor.

n the micro and micro-drive sector, IAI offers small mini slider types that easily replace pneumatic cylinders due to their identical design and simple control mode. They are suitable for mounting fixtures, workpiece positioning, table motion and many other applications. In the RCP3 series, the smallest models are available as a slider types with sliding spindle. The latest developments are the space-saving mini slider types of the RCA2 series with 24 V servo motor.

Simply usable without encapsulation In addition to the standard version, many actuators are also available as water-proof, splash-proof or dust-proof models. While pneumatic actuators are only safe enough after extensive encapsulation, IAI's IP-protected actuators can be used without any further construction measures. There is no risk of leakage here. The uncomplicated installation without additional units and the small space requirement significantly reduce the costs and time required for commissioning.

IAI's new controller series: R-Unit R-Unit is the new generation of controllers that are coupled via module connections and are modularly interchangeable. These include the RSEL program controller for connecting up to 8 actuators (in combination with the REC EC control up to 16 actuators), the RCON position controller for up to 16 electric cylinders and the REC EC controller for motion control of up to 16 EleCylinder axes. Common to all of them are the linkable control units with identical connections, which allow a free selection and combination of connected electric actuators and their control methods. Mixed control of electric cylinders with 24 volt and 230 volt motors is also easily feasible.

MPW Modular with air-cooled eddy-current brake, particularly for testing smaller electric motors smaller slowly running 1-cylinder engines drive units of e.g. two-wheelers. Splashing lubrication is made with the help of a bar which is integrated into the design of the crankshaft. There is a mini ball valve integrated to the body, enabling easy evacuation of compressor oil. Outlet of this valve is fitted with a removable blind plug against the risk of discharged oil.
