Flat and Tapered Beam Torque Wrenches The error proofing industry started with a deflecting beam wrench built and sold by Paul A. Sturtevant. That was 1924. Highly accurate, very easy to use, and so durable they often last for decades - and decades! The special alloy steel beam is ground to a rate of deflection with the use of dead weights, rather than a dimensional tolerance.
