Thermal cleaning in the WIWOX® IGS thermal system at up to 500° C removes all organic residues, even from fine bores. Depending on the melting and decomposition point of the residues, they are either melted or pyrolysed. The resulting exhaust air during the carbonization phase is burned in the afterburner chamber at over 850° C. Cleaning in the pyrolysis process requires subsequent post-cleaning. Inorganic components, oxidation residues, corrosion, etc. remain on the tool surface and must be removed. The ultrasonic process with acidic or alkaline cleaning media or the blasting process with organic and mineral abrasives are suitable for this purpose.

WIWOX® MT micro blasters are used for precise blasting with blasting nozzles from 0.4 – 1.8 mm. Surfaces can be smoothed, matted, deburred or cleaned. All mineral media, e.g. glass beads, broken glass, corundum, silicon carbide in the grain size range from 0 to 300 mμ serve as blasting media. The abrasive is used only once. The blasted surface is reproducible. Only a compressed air connection is required to operate the equipment. Micro-Tip fine blast units are suitable as portable free blast units or in combination with a blast cabinet. Micro-Tip fine blasting technology is available as a pressure or injector process. All units are equipped with foot pedal, pressure regulator, manometer and carbide nozzles.

The slimline probe LMP 305 with silicon stainless steel sensor is designed for continous level measurement in confined space conditions. Permissible media are clean or waste water and thin fluids. A piezoresistiv stainless steel sensor with low thermal error, an excellent linearity and a long term stability, is basis of LMP 305. The GEMÜ 650 2/2-way diaphragm valve has a stainless steel piston actuator and is pneumatically operated. The valve is designed for use in a sterile environment. Heat exchangers are mainly used in vacuum distillation systems for cooling and condensation in the absorption and rectification processes in chemical plants. Glass heat exchangers enable visual process control during scale-up and production and processing of multiple (acidic) chemical substances. Acidic, neutral or alkaline wet media Aqueous media remove dirt particles from surfaces and rinse them off. Aqueous detergents disperse particles, and form or separate emulsions. They act on the surfaces of parts. If required, aqueous media can be used to alter the surface properties of parts by passivation (phosphatising), pickling, etc. In all applications, the treatment of the medium itself is of crucial importance. Aqueous media are powerful detergents. Solvents are wet media that are able to dissolve substances without actually reacting with them. The most commonly used cleaning solvents are hydrocarbons and modified alcohols with a flash point > 55°C, and halogenated hydrocarbons. Solvents remove dirt particles from surfaces and rinse them off. Advantages Short cycle times, energyefficient drying, low solvent consumption, long medium service life and easy treatment.

In industrial parts cleaning, wet media are used in 70 to 90 % of all cleaning processes. Wet media include aqueous solutions – similar to detergents we use to wash our dishes or laundry – as well as nonaqueous solvents. For each cleaning task, project engineers must choose the best wet medium, taking into account ecological and economic considerations. Workpieces and parts are produced in finetuned production processes that often require the use of special consumables and process chemicals. Parts are generally made from specific materials, and their contamination after machining is determined by the processes they have undergone. When assessing the environmental impact of cleaning media, one sometimes comes to surprising conclusions. First of all, the energy input and use of resources must be assessed.

The ROTIMAT 1A has been designed for the spray cleaning of all workpieces that can be placed in the sturdy rotating basket. After production or repair, the workpieces and parts are cleaned with a hot aqueous cleaning medium that is sprayed onto the parts from all sides. This cleaning chamber has a special design, because the needed opening mechanism are integrated into the cleaning process. As a rule, it’s not possible to trigger containment by dismantling the double valve halves in front of the wash chamber. Thus this step must take place within the enclosed chamber. SISTO-C Elastomer diaphragms SISTO soft elastomers are made from an EPDM rubber which has been designed to withstand an operating temperature of up to 140°C. The diaphragm material corresponds to FDA requirements, EU1935 and has been tested and certified in accordance with USP guidelines. The diaphragms are well suited for use in “cold applications” such as in WFI systems, and thanks to their high ozone resistance they have proven extremely successful in CIP applications with all types of standard cleaning media. These EPDM diaphragms are also ideal for sterile steam applications. A piece of fabric integrated into the EPDM rubber enables the diaphragm to be used under vacuum. The diaphragms can easily handle solids-loaden fluids and have a long service life.
