Acrylic fiber is a synthetic one made from acrylonitrile, a clear plastic. This fiber, also called "art wool," is considered to use as a wool substitute. Among all synthetic yarns, acrylic is the closest to wool in appearance and feeling, however, it's lower cost than wool and has its own attractive characteristics.
