Natural Green Tea essential oil has a light and unobtrusive, fresh and pleasantly cool aroma. Green tea leaf (Camellia sinensis) essential oil is not as popular or widely known as, for example, consuming tea as a beverage. Traditionally, active ingredients are extracted from green tea leaves through fermentation and drying methods that create the aroma, flavor and benefits of the tea leaves. However, essential oils are less commonly extracted from tea leaves. Green tea contains a very rich chemical composition, including catechins (such as epigallocatechin gallate), flavonoids, polyphenols and carotenoids, which are known for their antioxidant and health properties. If essential oils were extracted from green tea, they would likely contain aromatic and active ingredients found in the leaves.
