Using dynamic inline mixers the active ingredient contained in the polymer is dispersed evenly in the sludge to be dewatered, resulting in a noticeable improvement of the dewatering characteristics and a considerable reduction of the required flocculation agent. A suboptimal mixture of the flocculation agents is often compensated by a considerable increase of the dosed quantity. In many applications the flocculation agent is dosed in a stronger dilution to improve the miscibility. Siempelkamp’s steel-cord conveyor belt presses distinguish by an innovative steel-cord tensioning concept: the controlled steel-cord tension distribution system increases production safety and improves product quality. The electromotive tensioning system, which is individually controlled and installed directly in the creel with integrated measuring and control functions, allows a 100%-control over the actual steel-cord tension distribution. When resins containing isocyanate (MDI, PMDI) are used, particles and bres are prone to stick and cake to the steel belts in MDF, OSB and particleboard production. These processes require the use of release agents to be sprayed onto the steel belts. In the press infeed drum seat of the ContiRoll® one unit each is installed at the upper and the lower infeed drums. The release agent application device uses a dip roller to spread the release agent onto the press belts. The surface-textured dip roller rotates inside the release agent tub. The dip roller is pressed against the application roller (setting force is adjustable) to transfer the release agent. The applicator roll applies the agent to the steel belt. Fibre sifters are used for processing softwood and rubberwood bres. They serve to remove tramp material, glue clots or latex particles from the resinated and pre-dried bre ow. Only a meticulous preparation like that can ensure a homogeneous board surface without any stains. In addition, sifting is an eective protective measure for the steel belt in the subsequent pressing process. The sifter is fed from the top. Disintegrating rollers mounted in the feed chute loosen up and homogenise the bre ow. Air is introduced from the bottom. The calculated volume ensures that the acceptables, which are lighter, are conveyed upwards, while the heavier rejects drop downwards to be discharged via rotary air lock. The entire sifter and all its ducts and piping are calculated and optimised precisely to the bre ow. This enables the pressure losses to be minimised and the energy eciency of the sifter to be improved signicantly compared to other systems..
