Focus Flanders has many different ‘Belgium Bicycle Tours’ available; there’s something for everyone. We offer leisurely tours that last a few hours or a day, or more strenuous ones that continue for several days. We’ll follow some of the best-known Flanders cycling routes and some famous (or infamous?) long-distance cycling routes of Belgium. We have a Belgian Coast Bike Tour as part of our seven-day Flanders Bike Tour, a couple of bicycle-themed team-building events, some tours that combine the cycling with visits to war-time points of interest, and some that use bicycling as an excuse to just eat and drink. You’ll find out! Join us on this cycling tour between Ypres and St Sixtus Abbey. We’ll show you the landscape of the Flanders Fields and end the tour with a visit to a local brewery under the medieval ramparts of Ypres. A local cheese or other typical small dish will accompany all tastings. The Mining Story of 17 June 1917 tour (75 km) challenges the true bikers by featuring the highest point in Flanders (the Kemmelberg, racing bike required)! We will also visit the site where 22 mines were made to explode on the morning of 17 June 1917 and hear the deeply human stories that came with this tragic event. We gather in small groups and make a 2 hours bicycle tour on a tandem through the fascinating countryside of the Lys. Each group is accompanied by a guide who will give a brief explanation of the most interesting and beautiful sights. The idyllic villages of Sint-Martens-Latem and Deurle gained their international reputation thanks to the great number of artists that settled here during the first half of the 20th century. Artists such as Albijn Van den Abeele, Valerius De Saedeleer, Constant Permeke, Gust and Leon De Smet, Albert Servaes, George Minne, Gustave and Karel van de Woestijne, Fritz Van den Berghe and so many others have worked here and formed a sort of ‘artists colony’ called rather erroneously the ‘Latem School’.
