Beeswax (Cera) Beeswax is formed by the worker bees, who secrete it thanks to their eight wax glands located on the abdominal segments. The size of these wax glands depends on the age of the worker bee, and daily flights cause these glands to atrophy. Initially, beeswax is released from the glands in the form of wax plates, clear as glass and colorless. The wax only becomes opaque after being chewed by the worker bee. Initially, its color is almost white, but it becomes increasingly yellow or brown after the addition of pollen oils and propolis. Honey bees use beeswax to build the honeycomb and seal the cells in which the bees store fresh honey and pollen. To make their wax, the bees need about eight times more honey than the amount of wax produced. Beeswax - is a natural wax produced by honeybees of the genus Apis throughout the world.
