We offer a wide range of standard backlights in LED technology. We offer lightguide/lightpipe (indirect, guided light) LEDs or lightbox (direct, matrix) backlights as well – depending on the requirements of the application. On customers demand we also supply EL (electroluminescence foil) and CCFL backlights or any lightguide-plastic-bodies. We also supply new innovative backlight technologies based on OLED materials in cooperation with MERCK. If we do not find a standard solution for your application we also can supply a customized solution at low volume and low price.

The BLACK variant of the LUMIMAX® Area Lights have a light area, which is diffuse black when the light is switched off and therefore it can be used as a low-reflection background. The special coating of the diffusor absorbs a large part of the incident light. Hotspots, e. g. from single LEDs of a ring light (reflected light), are not visible in the camera image. If the lights are switched on, they offer the usual homogeneous, diffuse, but still very bright lighting. Therefore, these lights are ideally suited for complex Machine Vision applications that require a combination of reflected light and backlight within a single checking station.

Thanks to the modular design as well as a wide range of accessories the ultraflexible high-performance lighting LQHP80 can be converted from a reflected light into homogeneous or collimated backlight. In addition, the radiation angle can be adapted to the size and distance of the test object by diverse lens kit options. The compact housing design with IP64 withstand demanding industrial environments and fits into even very limited installation surroundings thanks to a highly flexible 3D-cable outlet. With the integrated controller technology for either permanent, switch or flash operation modes, an irradiance of more than 5.0 millions lx can be achieved.

Knight Optical can offer Custom Homogenizing Rods for use within Electrical Instruments. Electrical instruments use backlight displays to help illuminate and evenly distribute the light source. They can be used as mixers, which is when you want to mix colours from multi-colour LEDs together. The light source will enter a light pipe at a variety of incident angles, which is designed to utilise its total internal reflection to help transmit light from the entrance of the light pipe to the exit. The material’s refractive index is the only factor which affects the light pipe’s critical angle; this defines the angle of acceptance at which the total internal reflection will occur. Get reflection free contour images with excellent contrast. The slim design of just 20mm simplifies the integration into conveyor belts. The flicker free dimming allows gently controlling the scene. On the right hand side, an original picture of a flow-wrapped syringe with disturbing reflections on the film and the same syringe under the backlight. It is even possible to detect content or packaging, just as needed. Backlights also work well with modular belts or wire mesh conveyors, as long as the products are bigger than the mesh pattern size. Domino Sign Flex , with a luminous flux of 140 °, are used for the illumination of box letters and for the backlighting of very small letters . By their flexibility , Domino Sign Flex follow the most complex shapes. The Flex Horizontal version allows to illuminate letters facing plexi of very small dimensions and a minimum thickness of 15 mm. The Flex Vertical version allows backlighting of a letter with a minimum width of 15 mm.

The Domino Dmax MONO is a new very precise technology developed for the meticulous manufacture of signs of small sizes , backlighting on small widths and boxes of very small depths (minimum 25 mm) with a reduced footprint. Stil Elektronik combines electroluminescent technology with membrane switch technology and brings it into use in the areas where homogenous lighting is needed, for several industries such as machinery, security, marine electronics, automotive, marketing etc. Electroluminescent technology is technically and visually better than the LED technology and it works properly in all kind of condition and temperature. It has 4 different colors as standard. On the other hand it is possible to brighten the printings by using transparent paints, in case of demand of different colors. There can be various colors on one panel as well one color too.
