ERW ax systems for industrial refrigeration of process fluids (water, water and glycol) are air-cooled units, using EC (Electronic Control) axial fans. This range includes a series of models with cooling capacities from 2.1 kWf up to 595 kWf. Three different versions are provided for different outlet fluid temperature ranges, agreed with the customer during the design phase. The entire range uses refrigerant with GWP 631.

The secret of this system is the combination of the refrigeration section and the free-cooling section depending on the time of day and year: the first mode allowed by these liquid chillers takes advantage of the normal operation of a refrigeration circuit, the second allows cold outside air to be directly conveyed to the fluid to be cooled: maximum efficiency, minimum energy use due to the clear separation between the two sections.

Low outlet fluid temperatures (water or water and glycol, down to -8°C) characterize RW ax LT liquid chillers: air condensation ensures that they use are electrical energy, and not water, for their operation: a resource that is then optimized by the electronically controlled “brushless” type axial fans. Up to +40°C ambient temperature allowed in standard execution.

RAW/E liquid coolers (water, water/antifreeze) operate through a closed circuit, consisting of a finned coil crossed in countercurrent by ambient air. Due to the sizing of the coil, it is possible to achieve process fluid temperatures close to the temperature of the intake air. They are industrial chillers designed for fluids between 0°C up to 70°C, with external temperatures between -10°C and +50°C: cooling powers available as standard from 64 kWf up to 782 kWf, considering a 10°C difference between ambient air and supply water. “RAW” series chillers are environmentally friendly machines: the fluids used in the cooling process are simply water/antifreeze (fluid to be cooled) and ambient air (cooling fluid). In addition, the use of high quality materials allows the achievement of high efficiency values (ratio of kWf rendered in cooling to kW absorbed in power consumption).

Extra large capacity air-cooled chillers with the cooling power of 120 kW to 1400 kW are designed for immense industrial and commercial buildings with high-power demand. CF series chillers are able to provide the highest cooling capacity of all the chillers produced by Refra. The intricate design of the open frame makes it possible to produce a unit with extremely powerful, high-quality parts. These units can be assembled with a built-in hydraulic module, as well as additional free cooling (possible with hybrid coils) or heat recovery options. Exposed frame construction and special perforated doors provide greater air movement and absorption, so the chiller can operate at high capacity without interruption. The ARA-T2 series air cooled chiller devices are units employing high efficient R410A cooling fluid with zero ozone thinning potential and having two scroll compressors. The device will start to run at half capacity in cases where the capacity need is low and the electricity consumption will be decreased significantly by being equipped with two compressors. Beside this, it operates at half capacity and the complete stoppage of the process is prevented in case of any defect of one of the compressors.
