Both sides of connectors need to be inspected, consisting of BGAs on one side and pins on the other.
Several parameters are relevant here: For the pins, the number, height, and correct alignment are important, while for the BGAs, the number and height matter. The manufacturer requires 100% inspection to ensure the correct functioning of all elements.
Critical points of this application:
The previously conducted manual inspection proved to be extremely error-prone. With a total of 450 pins with a thickness of 0.2 mm and 450 BGAs with a diameter of 0.8 mm, this was to be expected. Thus, the need for an automated process was evident.
