A narrow tolerance range and the elimination of manufacturing defects were the testing criteria in a production series of plastic molded parts that are components of vehicle control systems. Each side of the object had to be 100% inspected before leaving the factory.
The visual inspection of the parts for cracks and notches, as well as the manual dimensional control, was tedious and sometimes led to incorrect results. This situation needed to be resolved.
