Emery is a very hard, naturally formed mineral, comparable to Corundum. Due to the hardness and rough shape of the emery grains, it easily paste to vector material. Grounded to granulates, emery is very suitable to be used in anti-skid layers on bridge decks, parking decks and ship decks. It is also used as an additive in abrasion resistant pavements of roads, tunnels and entrances and exits of roads. Emery is weather proof and resistant to oils, fats and acids. Emery therefore is a relatively cheap and sustainable alternative compared to other - synthetic - materials such as silicon carbide, also known as carborundum (SIC).
