Spain, Cenicero (la Rioja)
... starting in the 1970s. A new school of viticulture was created with the aim of fully expressing the character of each plot of especially old vineyards... The best vineyards in the area were selected to obtain top-quality grapes through the best viticultural management of these considerable vineyards (over 1,000 ha). There are more than 30,000 barrels available for aging. Two teams of winemakers are responsible for the vinification. The red wines are fruitier and have less oak perception than is usually typical in Rioja. The flagship wine "Gaudium" consists of Tempranillo (95%) and Graciano (5%).
