...Arachis hypogaea, commonly known as peanut, caguate, or mani, is a legume from the Fabaceae family whose pod fruits (popularly associated with their morphology to nuts) contain seeds valued in gastronomy. In Spain, the seeds are consumed raw, fried, or roasted, although they are commonly known as "peanuts" or "cacaos." In Western Andalusia, they are often referred to as avellanitas. In the Canary Islands, they are known as "Manises." Roasted seeds are used to make a coffee substitute.
