Nitinol is the intermetallic phase NiTi with an ordered cubic crystal structure, which differs from that of titanium and nickel. It consists mainly of nickel (about 55%), with a significant portion of titanium. The alloy can be used up to 650 °C, is corrosion-resistant, and has high strength, while being elastically deformable up to about 8%.
