Our range of materials offers customers a wide selection of high-alloy iron-, nickel- and cobalt-based varieties. These materials are melted in highly efficient induction ovens, using vacuum technology where required. Our range of products includes corrosion-resistant alloys, heat-resistant alloys, non-magnetisable alloys, hard-wearing alloys and multiple special nickel- and cobalt-based alloys. We use state-of-the-art TFP embroidery laying machines with which we produce elements up to a size of 215 cm x 200 cm. The textile preforms and rovings are specifically produced using the Tailored Fibre Placement process. The fibres are laid in one piece and thus form a complete reinforcement structure for the fibre composite component. We supply and process titanium and titanium alloys, tantalum, molybdenum, TZM, zirconium, zirconium alloys, tungsten and nickel, cobalt and their alloys. However, we can also help you with other non-ferrous metals such as copper, brass or aluminium. We offer the following delivery forms: Semi-finished products including plates, sheets, foils, rods, wires and tubes. Turned and milled parts, precision components, edge and bent parts, laser or waterjet cut parts, wire-cut parts, standard DIN fasteners, custom fasteners, micro screws and titanium castings. We offer brushed, ground, polished, electropolished, PVD coated and anodised (coloured) surface finishes. For the hydrogen industry in particular, we are happy to supply you with high-quality materials such as titanium or nickel foils, for the manufacture of products including Bipolar plates or spring elements in the form of titanium expanded metal. We are also strongly positioned for customer-specific manufacturing of titanium felt sheets. We supply titanium felt in thicknesses from 0.1–5.0 mm and panel formats up to L1500xW500[mm]. The porosity of titanium felt can range from 50–90%. The fibre thickness used can be 20 µm or 50 µm. We are happy to support you in your product development. Portrait of the SGL Carbon site in Wackersdorf: The SGL Carbon site in Wackersdorf, in the Upper Palatinate, is part of the Carbon Fibres division. Here, about 140 highly-qualified staff deal with the production of mats and non-woven fabrics from carbon, glass or natural fibres. The diverse product range of over 150 product variants is rounded off with the subsequent process step of stacking. This involves superimposing different layers of mats, cutting them into stacks and joining them, all per customer specification. These stacks are then processed by the customer to produce preforms or finished components. Every year, SGL Carbon produces over 8, 000 tons of carbon, glass or natural fibre mats at the Wackersdorf site. The site also boasts three stacking machines with a capacity of over 2 million stacks per year. The products from Wackersdorf are used in a wide range of sectors, albeit primarily in the automotive and aerospace industries. Several recycling facilities serve to recycle the production waste that cannot be avoided in the process. All the facilities are powered by green electricity. Our SIGRATEX textile materials are the ideal basis for producing high-quality, fibre-reinforced plastics. They are suitable for a wide range of processing operations.
