    The company was founded by Philipp Jacob Knoth. It is therefore one of the oldest companies in Solingen and can look back on a long tradition. August Knoth Sr., the son of the company founder, took over the business, in which leather sheaths with metal fittings have been hand-crafted for industrial customers in Solingen. The company underwent its first modernisation under the leadership of the new owners Friedrich Paul and August Knoth. Firstly, they began with the machine-based production of the existing items. Secondly, the product range was expanded to include clamps, sleeves and caps for cutlery, sheath knives, etc. And thirdly, a tool manufacturing facility was also added. Since 1993, Alexandra Simons (née Bruckschen) and Michael Simons have seen the next generation working in the company. The now 7th generation is now entering the company as trainees with Niklas Simons.
