The company was established in 1967 in the city of Varshets with the opening of a factory for electromagnetic ballasts production. The factory was equipped with German machinery, using a German technology, manufacturing a great variety of lighting industry components. Since 2000 the company is a private venture of 100% Bulgarian capital. The plant was additionally renovated and modernized, again using German technology and equipment for its automatic processes. Currently Electrostart JSCo is the sole Bulgarian manufacturer of electromagnetic and electric ballasts, transformers, ignition devices and other components for luminescent, metal-halide, sodium, mercury and gas-discharge lighting units.
