Cooperage (tonnellerie) is the craft of making wooden containers (vats, barrels, kegs) from boards, tightened with hoops. More than three centuries coopers produce high quality oak barrels - sharp, different size tanks and drums that created the fame of the village Vrachesh, area of Botevgrad. The main material used for the manufacture of barrels is oak Quercus - conferta. This is the most widely used material in the manufacture of barrels without knots, sapwood and cracks with fine annual rings. Staves are prepared by cleaving the log into quarters, radial rays such as the core does not come out from the one to the other broad side. Barrels are made from high quality natural dried materials drying period of 24 months for the surrounding arcs and 36 months for troughs.
