Specifically developed for the CPSERIES, the POWERBOX control unit does not merely represent a minor component of the new system. It is actually one of the best components! ICM has designed the first ever ‘Plug & Play’ control unit for portable X-Ray generators. This outstanding innovation features two graphic Vacuum Fluorescent Displays as well as MIL-DTL 26482 connectors. Despite its light weight, it is robust and provides a multifunctional position handle as well as a highly intuitive menu. Furthermore, the POWERBOX is shockproof, safe and reliable. And this even applies to harsh, cold, warm and dusty environments. FLEXIBILITY & ROBUSTNESS Its broader power range (from 90V to 264 VAC) voltage selector ensures that this small yet robust control unit can operate from practically any main power network worldwide. Furthermore, its 0.99 power factor means that it can operate with the most commonly used sets that are available on the market.

The SCU286 has a system for direct measurement of the high voltage delivered by the X-Ray generator to guarantee the accuracy of the radiological parameters. Based on this data the control system maintains the stability of mA and kilovolts to within ± 0.5% in any selection range. SITEX & XS units offer a totally constant quality of exposures, as they are virtually exempt from fluctuations in the power supply. OPERATOR INTERFACE The user-friendly high strength polyester front panel is equipped with a sensory-type 16-key keypad, a high brightness display and an anti-reflection screen. The SCU286 also includes a programmable access codes system that features three security levels (supervisor, operator and service engineer) which limit the access to certain functions in relation to the security level selected. ICM crawler generators are equipped with a completely removable control unit, which includes an LCD display and keypad. This pocket size Remote Control Unit – the CPRCU – provides the operator with the most user-friendly interface available for crawler tubes. As soon as the preheating is completed and the kVs and mAs are keyed in, the remote control unit will be disconnected and the crawler will be ‘ready to go’

The CCU186 control unit for crawlers possesses a distinct advantage compared to existing products. In fact, all of the performances that are usually achieved with standard control units are now available in the crawler configura­tion. Automatic slow preheating, the progressive rise in voltage with each exposure, as well as a selection of set values are all included in the CCU186. As the CCU186 has been entirely fitted with industrial electronic components, it is perfectly suited to the often extreme conditions of automatic intra-tube control campaigns. GENERATORS All of the generators in the SITEX crawler range are automatically identified and controlled by the CCU186: the interchangeability is total and this can be instantly implemented on-site. Moreover, thanks to a conversion kit, these generators will operate in perfect sync with the SCU286 standard control unit.

The battery converter allows the powering of one POWERBOX and one CPSERIES from a LED battery such as those that are available in cars. The converter generates an output voltage of 230 V / 50 Hz from an input voltage of 12 or 24 VDC and is capable of delivering electrical power of up to 1500 W

The latest generation of battery packs consists of Li-ion cells that are equipped with an integrated intelligent monitoring system which ensures a longer battery life. This type of battery does not have a so-called “memory-effect” and therefore does not have to be discharged before one is able to recharge it. This battery is equipped with a test gauge that permits the user to check its charge level and in turn anticipate any potential need for recharging

Detailed images are a common goal for all NDT operators. Depending on the configurations, noise or backscattering effects, disturbances in the results and interpretations may occur. To reduce these effects, ICM engineers have developed a specific adjustable collimator that helps to manually reduce the X-Ray beam that comes from the CP120B and the CP160B. The collimator strictly focuses the X-Ray beam on the target and in doing so reduces the noise effect, the backscattering effects and improves the penetration. This collimator can be mounted on the CP120B & CP160B via a specific support that is placed on the generators.

When a power outlet is available near the CP120B or CP160B generators, a specific mains power supply can be used to directly power the generators without having to use the battery packs. This equipment consists of an adaptor in the shape of a battery pack that enables both an easy and solid connection to the CP generator. A green LED on the side of the main power cable indicates that the PS36 is switched on and that a supply voltage is available.

The Li-ion battery pack charger is uniquely designed to charge the Li-ion battery packs of either the CP120B or CP160B generators. On the front panel there is a ‘power-on’ LED indicating that a supply voltage is present and the charger is switched on, as well as a led battery charge indicator that displays the progress of the charge cycle. On the rear panel you will find a standard IEC power connector, a power switch and a fuse holder.

The CP120B & CP160B generators can be equipped with either a filter or lead cap. These can be used to filter out low energy beams and in doing so improve the image quality. For instance, the lead cap is used to block the X-Ray beam during the pre-heating of the CP160B. Both the filter and lead cap are combined with a specific holder to fix the accessories on the CPB generators. Thanks to its easy fixation system, mounting and dismounting of the filter plate and lead cap is possible.
