High quality black truffles cultivated in Spain! The black truffle is a hypogeous fungus, meaning it grows and develops underground. Scientifically known as Tuber melanosporum, its discovery dates back thousands of years. In fact, it was consumed by ancient Egyptians, Romans, and Greeks, who attributed medicinal and aphrodisiac properties to it. Black truffles are easy to distinguish by their peculiar appearance; when mature, they are black, as the name suggests, with a violet hue. Their texture is warty, and inside, the flesh is compact yet light, with some firmness.
