CENTRUM HYPERTHERMIE

The treatment center, Hyperthermia Center, was established in 2007 from the initiative of the Hyperthermia Foundation. The Hyperthermia Foundation (and the treatment center) aims to promote research into and treatment with hyperthermia. Despite decades of research and scientific evidence, clinical hyperthermia treatments are rarely applied in the Netherlands. In contrast, hyperthermia is increasingly embraced in many other countries as a pillar within oncology. As a complement to chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy, hyperthermia is playing an increasingly significant role worldwide. The Hyperthermia Center stands for a personal approach within oncology; we actively think along and advise patients. The Center At the Hyperthermia Center in Amsterdam, everything is geared towards making the patient as comfortable and easy as possible. During treatment, a doctor is permanently present in the center. The treating physician(s) remain close by and inform patients about when to alert them if something feels uncomfortable. They can then immediately adjust the equipment if necessary. Temperature, blood pressure, and pulse are monitored as needed. At the Hyperthermia Center, we have three devices for local hyperthermia treatments: one for superficial, one for medium-depth, and one for deep treatments. We also have a device for total body hyperthermia treatments.
