The company AKH – Drive Technology KATT Hessen was established in 2002 through the reformation of the KATT Motor Factory, founded in 1924, and the merger with the initially conceived development company AKS. While the headquarters of AKH is located in northern Hesse in Homberg (Efze) (photo), another development office is situated in Dresden (formerly AKS). The term "KATT" in the company name reflects the high manufacturing competence of the original company. To this day, the term KATT stands for the highest quality and for more than 2 million delivered electric motors. Milestones in Motor Development at AKH 1999 Market launch of a highly inertial asynchronous machine series with the highest power density, achieved through a novel patented ventilation system. 2007 Completion of the first water-cooled asynchronous machine with additional fans, specifically developed for testing large diesel combustion engines. Power density: 800kW at shaft height 355. 2009 Development of a self-ventilated high-efficiency motor series AH250 to AH400 with special bearings to accommodate high axial and radial forces and high maximum speeds (application in process pumps). 2010 Delivery of the first test stand machine for e-mobility testing tasks (430Nm, power 180kW up to a maximum speed of 16,000 rpm). 2011 Delivery of a test stand motor with a novel winding design in AH 450 with 1MW and a maximum of 8,500 rpm. 2012 Market launch of a lightweight asynchronous machine series with very high power density and patented water cooling.
