Introducing sensing solutions for medical support surfaces from Dartex®. Utilizing the latest knitting technologies, the sensors are woven into the textile and protected with industry trusted Dartex® polyurethane. When integrated with the bed system, vulnerable pressure points can be monitored and the sensors alert the patient and/or carer to reposition, either physically or mechanically. Tourniquets are non-invasive medical devices that are used on patient limbs to restrict blood flow in a specific area in order to achieve a bloodless surgical field. A tourniquet often has tubing inserted to allow air to pass through, which inflates the cuff and restricts the blood flow. There will also be a plastic insert used to give the cuff strength. Types of cuff are: Ambulatory Tourniquet The key feature of this cuff is that there should be no air loss within the system, as high pressure is required to ensure the patient has the best possible chance of surviving transport. Pneumatic Tourniquet / Surgical Tourniquet These can be single or dual-bladder cuffs designed to create a bloodless surgical field by applying pressure to blood flow in a limb. They are used during surgical procedures, quite often for orthopedic surgery, such as knee replacements.

Blood Pressure Cuffs (BP Cuffs) form an essential component of a sphygmomanometer, or blood pressure monitoring device. When attached to the patient’s arm, the cuff needs to be easily inflatable to collapse and then release the artery in a controlled manner in order to accurately measure blood pressure.
