DOMAINE GRAIN D'ORIENT

The DOMAINE GRAIN D’ORIENT is located in a small village nestled on the northern foothills of the Pyrenees, at the end of the Agly valley. The mosaic of terroirs in Roussillon allows Aliette and Patrice BOURG, independent winemakers, to produce atypical white and red wines, classified as IGP Côtes Catalanes. The estate spans 10 hectares around the village of Caudiès de Fenouillèdes, enabling it to utilize three very different terroirs. The grape varieties have been carefully selected: Cabernets and Merlots are planted on alluvial soils; Syrahs on the hills of schist marl, and Chardonnays on clay-limestone slopes. Since 2009, the estate has been producing 100% organic cuvées. Organic farming is, for Aliette and Patrice Bourg, an agronomic, environmental, and oenological necessity. Thus, the vineyard is better able to withstand increasingly hot summers and produces balanced grapes, ensuring the good preservation of the wines and their aromas over time. Desiring to respect the fruity aromas and the minerality of the red wines, the winemaking couple has chosen to age exclusively in stainless steel tanks and terracotta jars. Only the Chardonnays, planted at over 380m on a northern slope, reach their full potential in French oak barrels. In need of commercial development, the estate is looking for independent sales agents specialized in wine to prospect the CHR sector throughout France.
