The safe and efficient construction and operation of gas transmission systems calls for complex decisions; there are a number of prerequisites that must be met. This applies to many areas such as material selection, component design and sizing, well-founded assessments of the condition of pipelines and facilities based on various test procedures, the determination of the repair and maintenance work required as well as quality assurance for materials, procedures and personnel. We offer a comprehensive service portfolio in this area, based on the experience and know-how gained from the operation of our pipeline network and the technical infrastructure available for this purpose.

In order to protect pipelines from damage (e.g. during construction activities), they are regularly inspected on foot, from a vehicle or helicopter. Practical experience has shown, however, that these methods do not ensure continuous and comprehensive monitoring. PipeMon+® closes this gap, allowing appropriate measures to be taken immediately when a pipeline is suddenly damaged. OGE has developed a pipeline monitoring method based on the principle of cathodic protection (CP). When a cathodically protected pipeline is damaged by construction equipment (excavator, drill, rotary cultivator, etc.), the protective current distribution on the pipeline changes. Using appropriate sensors and special analysis methods, these events can be detected in real time.

With the development of CHARM®, Open Grid Europe is providing an efficient leakage control method for natural gas pipeline networks and thus an alternative to the labour intensive practice of conducting on-site inspections of the pipelines with gas detection devices. CHARM® is a highly accurate infrared laser system integrated in a helicopter that is capable of precisely detecting even very low methane concentrations from the air. Even in the case of very complex pipeline topologies, the course of the pipeline can be detected consistently on a large scale during the flight by an automatic, highly precise scanning beam control system (autotracking), thus ensuring a reliable leak tightness inspection of the natural gas pipeline.

Our employees set your data on the way, monitor the regularity according to legal limits and regulations of the German Association (DVGW), starting from the data retrieval, plausibility, substitute value and disturbance monitoring up to market communication in the currently valid data format. Maintenance and repair work on the natural gas network is generally carried out with the pipeline being gas-free, so the relevant pipe sections are isolated by installing valve assemblies and the gas in the isolated section is vented to atmosphere. By using our mobile compressors – individually or in highly efficient parallel operation – the network operator can transfer the gas from the isolated pipe section to another part of the system so it does not have to be vented to atmosphere. Connection points for the mobile compressors are available e.g. in the area of the main line valves or can generally be retrofitted. It makes economic sense to transfer the gas to another as this guarantees responsible handling of this primary energy source and makes a substantial contribution to protecting the environment. The continuous non-contact Area-Weight Scale CONTI-SCALE X MULTIENERGY determines the panel weight and its distribution during production by measuring the area-weight and by taking the known panel dimensions into account. CONTI-SCALE X MULTIENERGY uses X-ray technology. Two X-ray tubes are located on a horizontal frame above the panel. The low energy X-ray beams are focused across the production width, but scan the full width of the panel. Metal plates on each side of the system prevent someone reaching inside the radiation area. There is no risk to human body parts which might stay beside/outside the system. The X-ray energy will be absorbed. Several detectors are lined up along the lower beam under the panel to measure (per track) the absorbed X-ray energy. This is how the area-weight is measured.

Siempelkamp’s steel-cord conveyor belt presses distinguish by an innovative steel-cord tensioning concept: the controlled steel-cord tension distribution system increases production safety and improves product quality. The electromotive tensioning system, which is individually controlled and installed directly in the creel with integrated measuring and control functions, allows a 100%-control over the actual steel-cord tension distribution. The exact quality reporting enables our customers to optimize the production, hence the product’s quality. The new concept replaces the xed-nger comb used in previous systems with a roller comb. The friction between comb and steel cables is thus eliminated. Consequently, the abrasive wear on the galvanized steel cables is reduced. Unlike the traditional concept, the new roller comb prevents any variations in tension distribution. With SECUPACK® a product's distribution channel can be uninterruptedly retraced from the manufacturer to the wholesaler and the retailer. Counterfeits are quickly withdrawn from circulation and do not make their way into the trade circuit. Especially with pharmaceuticals, it is crucial that primary packaging contains the correct medicine and is unambiguously identifiable as original.
