Zirconium

About this product

Very good corrosion resistance Small neutron capture cross-section: nuclear technology Good machinability High ductility, easily formable Good weldability The metal zirconium is named after its raw material source, the mineral zircon. Significant deposits are found in Australia, South Africa, the USA, and Brazil. Zirconium is a silvery, shiny ductile metal that can be easily shaped through rolling and forging. Due to the formation of a stable oxide layer, zirconium has very good corrosion resistance. Zirconium usually contains a few percent of the very similar element hafnium. Hafnium-free zirconium is only very labor-intensive to produce, but is required for use in nuclear technology.
