Origin
Stevia, also known as honey herb, is a natural sweetener derived from the leaves of the South American Stevia rebaudiana plant. The substances that make the plant sweet are the concentrated steviol glycosides.
Benefits of Liquid Stevia
Liquid stevia is up to 150 times sweeter than sugar. Liquid stevia contains no calories and has a Glycemic index of 0. This means that liquid stevia has no harmful impact on blood sugar levels, making it very suitable for people with diabetes.
Usage
Liquid stevia extract is extremely suitable for sweetening beverages and dishes. Two to three drops of liquid stevia extract are equivalent to one teaspoon of sugar. However, it is not comparable to sugar, as liquid stevia has a more bitter taste. Liquid stevia can be used, for example, in drinks and yogurts or for baking.
