Membranes are sealing elements that act as elastically movable partitions, hermetically sealing two spaces against each other while performing a lifting movement that is directed perpendicular to the clamping plane. They require no maintenance, no lubrication, operate without wear, and have a long service life. Thin-walled membranes work almost frictionlessly without breakaway forces. Membranes are used in a wide range of technical fields – the application determines the size and shape of the membrane. Typical membrane designs include roll membranes as well as bellows, disc, dome, or flat membranes.
