Rolled ball screw drives are high-precision drive elements designed to handle axial forces. Manufacturer of spindle and nut: MICRON, Odessa available at Lineareasy.
A ball screw drive (BSD) is a screw mechanism with balls inserted between the screw and the nut. It serves to convert rotational motion into linear motion or vice versa and is standardized according to DIN 69051-1 (new standard: ISO 3408-1). Compared to conventional screw drives with sliding parts, where about 50 to 90% of the input power is converted into heat, ball screw drives offer: less friction (lower drive power, greater possible movement speed), reduced stick-slip behavior (higher positioning accuracy), and lower wear. The higher manufacturing costs are offset by advantages in use and a longer lifespan.
