Note High-strength, straight shackles GN 584 are manufactured in accordance with the US Federal Specification RR-C-271 and feature a safety factor of 6. Therefore, the minimum breaking strength is at least six times higher than the rated load capacity (WLL). The nominal size and the rated load capacity (WLL) are forged into the shackle, which facilitates the safe identification of the lifting device. In general, the rated load capacity must not be exceeded. The version with nut and cotter pin (Form B) is generally recommended for permanent connections. The bolts can rotate, and the nuts are secured against accidental loosening by a cotter pin.
