Dry coolers are simple and reliable devices.
Their operating principle is based on a sensible heat exchange between air and water where: air is drawn in by fans through a finned coil, while water (or a mixture of water and glycol) circulates in the tubes that make up the coil and cools down when the ambient air (colder) comes into contact with its surface.
The ambient air (colder) touches the surface of the coil.
The exchange coils, arranged in a "V" inside the cooler, are made of copper tubes and aluminum fins. The angle between the coils, the diameter of the tubes, the thickness, and the length of the fins are sized to ensure the best thermal exchange performance for a given pressure drop of the fluid and air flow.
