A screw is a mechanical component designed to fasten one or more pieces by pressure. It creates a removable planar connection through preloaded contact between the parts to be assembled.
Screws consist of:
- a head: For assembly screws, it is the underside of the head that exerts the clamping pressure. The shape of the heads is defined by the drive interface and the type of installation:
The drive interface is the part of the screw that receives the tool necessary for tightening and loosening. This drive can be external (hexagonal H, ...) or internal by impression (6 recesses, slot, cross, 6 internal lobes "Torx", ...).
The type of installation takes into account accessibility (tight spaces or not, ...) and visibility of the clamping (decorative, discreet, ...) as well as technical characteristics such as the tightening torque.
