Advantages at a glance: - When using hydrostatic tailstocks, the roundness of ground shafts does not depend on the quality of the workpiece centering. A roundness of 0.2µm can be achieved through the rotating tailstock, regardless of the workpiece centering. - Heavy workpieces can be ground between supports with < 0.5µm. - Shafts with large bores can be ground between centers without an intermediate shaft with small centering bores. - Consistent clamping force during machining. Crankshafts and balance shafts can be ground with significantly higher quality.
