Protective Gas Hardening

The strength and toughness or the hardness of the treated workpieces are increased. Suitable for all hardenable steels and alloy steels with high proportions of alloying elements. The protective gas hardening combines the heat treatment processes of hardening and tempering in the high temperature range. In the first processing step of hardening, the workpieces are brought to the austenitizing temperature to transform the microstructure into martensite and are then quenched. The subsequent tempering process optimally adjusts the required mechanical properties, particularly the desired service hardness and toughness.
