Spur Gear for Linear Drives Increasing demands for environmental protection are increasingly prohibiting the use of hydraulics. Even the slightest leaks are not tolerated in certain applications. An interesting alternative is the use of electric linear actuators. In addition to being oil-free, there are further advantages to a purely electric solution, such as better efficiency and simpler control of the lifting units. To prevent the system from becoming too long, the use of a spur gear is recommended. This allows the motor to be arranged parallel to the lifting spindle, and the gearbox with alternative gear ratios of i=4 / i=10 and i=25 enables the use of smaller motors.
