The ATM 8-12-16 processes are multiple discharge frames, consisting of up to 16 individual discharge units designed as compact assemblies. Each discharge unit operates as a separate system. This allows for up to 16 individual wires to be grouped together and rewound (the number of individual wires in the group can be arbitrary). A constant wire pull force is achieved through a spring-loaded dancer system and an electronically controlled braking system. Hysteresis brakes are used as control brakes. The dancer position is detected optoelectronically (optical sensor, distance measurement) and transmitted to the brake control system, generating a corresponding braking current. The regulated braking system enables high rewinding speeds while maintaining sufficient winding quality (fulfillment of the "hanging test," also known as the "catenary test," see technical data). In the event of a wire break or wire end, a quick stop is initiated via a wire break circuit (all active discharge units are braked). A "EMERGENCY STOP" is implemented using a permanent magnet brake.
