Stone carpets, also known as quartz carpets, are universally appreciated for their aesthetic quality and the unique appearance they exude.
Through the judicious use of synthetic resins that ensure an unalterable product, all the beauty and warmth of the stones is preserved. The absence of seams in the covering further enhances this natural aspect and gives the space an increased impression of openness and freedom.
Stone carpets, with the possibilities of choice within an almost infinite range of combinations, can be precisely adapted to individual tastes and integrated into the most diverse environments.
A stone carpet can be installed both indoors and outdoors, on floors as well as on vertical or sloped surfaces, with customizable granule sizes, in solid or mixed shades, with or without pattern insertion...
The stone carpet is truly a prestigious flooring solution, custom-made... In fact, only imagination limits the possibilities.
Principle
The starting idea is incredibly simple: the covering is created using a multitude of small stones bonded together by a synthetic resin. This resin, whose strength and longevity far exceed those of traditional construction binders, also has the advantage of being literally invisible.
As a result, although the stones are intimately bonded to each other and to their substrate, they present themselves in their natural form and with complete freedom. This is the origin of the charm of the stone carpet, which appears as a unique covering.
The principle underlying stone carpets allows for their application in the most varied circumstances; indeed, during installation, when the resin has just been prepared and combined with the stones, it is as if one were applying, for example, a plaster.
This results in a seamless covering that conforms to the topology of the space, both on horizontal and vertical surfaces, without interfering with existing architectural lines. The preservation of the original appearance of the stones also allows for an infinite array of choices: natural or colored stones, finished granule sizes, or combinations of shades and diameters.
Special Techniques
The finishing of a stone carpet can be completed with the application of a special varnish, which has the particularity of offering even less adhesion to dirt than the binder of the stone carpet; the effectiveness of vacuuming and mopping is thus enhanced.
This varnish is also characterized by extreme resistance to wear and abrasion, which can be valuable in certain places where, for example, heavy tables and chairs with metal legs are likely to be frequently dragged across the floor.
Finally, this varnish fully preserves the charm of the stone carpet, meaning its open structure. Certainly, there are places characterized by high risks of abundant, unpredictable, and/or uncontrollable soiling; for these locations, it is not uncommon for organizational constraints to weigh on the possibility of conducting regular and systematic maintenance. The conjunction of these factors obviously results in significant risks (and not just for the flooring!).
Consider, for example, a café-restaurant, with its overturned glasses, cigarette butts crushed into the floor, and remnants of meals trampled underfoot...
