Lovage is a plant, a member of the parsley family. The flavor of lovage lies between parsley and celery, and its aroma is quite distinctive. In traditional medicine, people used it as an herb for the digestive tract, preventing kidney stones, increasing urinary flow, or improving the respiratory system. Lovage was well known to the Romans as both food and medicine. In the early Middle Ages, it was used by the English to make tonic drinks. It is a very popular spice for vegetable stews and soups, especially those with fish. For tea preparation: pour 1 to 2 teaspoons per cup (250 ml) of boiling water and let steep.
