DOROBANTI takes its name from the elegant residential area of Bucharest near the head office and represents a bold new direction for its parent company, which, until now, specialised in traditional furniture. Creative director for DOROBANTI’s inaugural collection, Leonhard Pfeifer had a clear vision to create a range of contemporary furniture with a broad appeal. Working predominantly with solid timber and using a variety of naturalistic finishes to ensure the integrity of the furniture, Pfeifer summarises his inspiration for the range as ‘utility’, ‘coherence’, and ‘elegance’ - concepts embodied across the collection. Known for a well-considered, pared-down and elegant aesthetic, Leonhard says ‘A design is judged as an integrated whole - a fine balance where design and production result in a lightness of touch and grace’. Across the range thoughtful and well chosen details bring the designs to life.
