What is Tamanu Oil? Tamanu Oil is an incredible oil! Thousands of years ago, the indigenous people of the Pacific discovered a tree with nuts near the ocean. They quickly realized that the nuts from the tree contained a special oil that they used to protect their skin from the hot sun, humidity, and sea breeze. There is a very limited supply of Tamanu oil in the world because it can only be sourced from such a small area. It takes as much as 100 kilograms (the entire harvest of 1 tree per year) of Tamanu fruit to produce just 5 kilograms of Tamanu oil.
